Cozy Cottage Project

This cottage project was my introduction to the rendering software Enscape and SketchUp in my digital communications class. Enscape takes Sketchup models and renders them into life-like images and videos. This software was beneficial for other projects and will continue to be a useful skill in the field. This truly transformed the model of my cottage design into a selling point for any client or employer. It can also help the designer to get a better feel for the space so that they can perfect it with any alterations before the renovation.

DREAMY LAUNDRY ROOM
This laundry room project shows the many steps in the design process of even a small space including sketches, space planning, case studies and identifying problems and solutions. I worked with the limitations in terms of the size of the room and the plumbing locations and finalized a floor plan that accommodated the client's needs and optimally utilized the space.

CITY BASED REDESIGN
This interior project encapsulates Copenhagen's blend of tradition and modernity. spaces are crafted with a minimalist aesthetic, celebrating natural materials and sustainable practices. From chic apartments to cozy cafes, every design choice reflects Copenhagen's vibrant essence, merging tradition with contemporary flair. This project captures the soul of Danish design, offering a glimpse into the captivating charm of the city. All drawings are hand-drawn and rendered by me.

ARTWORK BASED MAQUETTE
For this project, I had to put my hand drafting and rendering skills to use to build a model of a primary bedroom and ensuite using hand-rendered drawings glued to foam core which was then put together with sewing pins. The design had to be based on one piece of artwork which you can see on the title page. When this art piece was first given to me, I was nervous about the amount of colour and style I had to work with. I eventually extracted the colours and design language within the piece and used this language throughout the room. Moody, expressive, dramatic, and energetic were the main design terms carried throughout this project.

Final house design project
This whole house project was one of my favourites. It was part of a group final and this was my assigned room, the principle bedroom, to design based on a family, specifically for the parents, who are from Montreal, QC and Johannesburg, SA. The design was a mix of traditional, french country (checkered details and detailed millwork) and bold, eclectic organic styles (natural elements, rounded edges, bold colours). I used SketchUp to digitally design the room and then Enscape to bring it all to life, playing with different lighting and materials.
